Garlic scapes

In an earlier post from last fall I mentioned I was trying Garlic in the garden this year. After working in the garden yesterday I realized that the garlic was flowering . A little research told me to cut them off to ensure all the energy goes to the bulb. Further reading said that the stems better known as scapes were edible. Maybe last week, definitely not today.

Garlic flavored wood was served up today along with a beautiful salad from the garden

Some Early Hydrangeas

I like them almost as much as my Rhodos.. Actually more. They last a whole lot longer.

Blackberries/ Raspberries

A few weeks for the blackberries .It will be months for the others

Tomatoes

Finally got all but 2 trimmed and staked this morning. These were under a foot of water 4 days ago

Wash out

There are many pluses and minuses for growing vegetables in sandy soil. We had 4 inches of rain last week The water was up to the motor of my Troy -built.  A few rows disappeared .

A little hoeing and raking and we are back on track .I saw a farmer this morning and she said that a few 90 plus days and we will bw watering before long .GO FIGURE.

Shit Happens!!!!

We were painting the other day and realized the ceiling was wet. OOPS. I could blame about 5 people but ultimately its my job. Some one put a nail into the drain for the sink when we closed up the walls . Didn't find out until we started using the sink.

Lesson learned .Even if the plumber says go ahead you can close everything up .Make sure the drains are pressure tested before. We would have found this leak months ago. That would have saved me a lot of aggravation and $$$$$.
