I read somewhere that there are about 3000 of these guys left in the wilds around Florida. Yesterday I took a ride up to homasassa springs with the idea I might see a couple .There is a spring in a state park that pumps out 3,000,000 gals of 72F waterpre hour 24/7.
I counted 60 and I counldn't get very far, stuck on land .If I did my math right that's 2% of the entire population in a 1/4 mile stretch of river.
Amazing!!!!
The river was also loaded with all kinds of fish 100's if not thousands of snook ,redfish tail mangrove snapper .They were all in a no fish zone.
Truly amazing
