We have had two hard freezes but the garden keeps chugging along. Sauteed cabbage and winter green for lunch today.

Trout Fishing

I love to fly fish .Have since college days and that was a while ago .For a few yrs a bunch of us went up to the Catskills for T & T . Turkey and trout. Most guys were interested in the turkey but rarely the trout .I found myself most afternoons alone.
Its been a few yrs since I journeyed up state to enjoy those beautiful streams so I dropped everything last week made a reservation and headed north for a few days.
It rained every night which helped bring the water up a little but it was a little to warm for the fish.I did get some time in on the streams and actually caught a few ,
Here is a 15 in brown trout I caught on my own fly.I don't carry a camera with me when I fish .I fall to often .My friend snapped this one from a 100 yds away

Sunday in the Garden

Barely have time for time for this.Like time vegetables wait for no one.Soon it will be fall. Hard to believe with 80 degree temps.

Just have to get it up the hill ,split and stacked  Repair the compost bin ,and fence all before I go back to work on Monday.

Spring Planting Has been Delayed

This went down in one of the 8 Nor'easters we had this winter after Sandy.It went down in the New Years eve eve storm. Just as I was getting in my truck to head south.

Oil Changed.Fueled up . A new wash and wax .The truck is loaded and ready.
  Its 14 yrs old. Cummins diesel.She is ready for another 150,000 if the body does't fail me. My son says I am going to be sitting on a milk crate wearing goggles but that engine will be purring.

Going Home

It has been a mixed winter for fishing where I am in Florida. January was above normal .March t,he 5th coldest on record. The fish were hard to find and when I found them they were not eating. The boat is all cleaned up and ready to be stored. Hopefully I will get a better knowledge on these flats next year and will get around a little better.

I hate those 4X8 sheets that you get at the supply house. I had some wood left over from the dock . About an hour on the table saw .A few left over screws.
The climbers are already added.

Repurposing

A lot of the materials I am buying are coming from a salvage yard near me.I don't have them at home .They disappeared with the last building boom. Pictured are used moldings windows and marble

It not a question of If .Its just a matter of when this place will go under water again. The price one pays for being 1000yds from The Gulf of Mexico. The last photo is the old dock.

Its not like I haven't been busy .I just feel like I haven't been home for months. Months away from all the things I write and think about.
My wife and I have been busy setting up a second home .Something I feel uncomfortable writing about.

This place was completely uninhabitable when we purchased it in May. No heat /air. Mold, mildew, a leaky roof. Like millions of others.Fools or lovers we moved closer to the water.

I joke its just another garage to fill up.
