I pay someone to fertilize the lawn. Just can't keep them from fertilizing the orchard . Much to much Nitrogen is going into the fruit trees.

Oak Leaf Hydrangeas

Maybe this is what brings all those little birds to my feeder. This is just under the hummingbird feeder

Great Garlic Disaster of 2011

I had visions of being overrun with beautiful bulbs of garlic this year. I planted in the fall and waited till the tops started to die. I was told when the curved flower stalk (scape) stands straight up its time to harvest.

Needless to say I am very disappointed. I don't think they got enough sun. I will plant in a different place in the fall.

Breakfast Guests

When its cool(er) in the early morning I like to have a cup of coffee on the deck and watch the Hummingbirds come to the feeder. One can never tell how many come unless multiples show up. This morning I had 11 visits . It all appeared to be the same bird until this guy showed up. The males are the ones with the Ruby throat.
